Bottle tree or Grandidier Baobab trees (Adansonia grandidieri)



Bottle tree or Grandidier Baobab trees (Adansonia grandidieri) is one of the 6 species of baobab tree (genus / species Adansonia) in Madagascar. Largest and most famous tree of Madagascar, the name is derived from the name of a botanist (plant expert), Alfred Grandidieri (year 1836-1921). Grandidier baobab tree is now threatened with extinction.

Tree species (genus) baobab in the world there are 8 species, can keep water in the trunk and 120,000 liters to deal with drought. Height between 5 to 50 meters and trunk diameter of between 7 to 11 meters. According to myth, baobab trees may reach 6,000 years of age.

Baobab tree is also a call: boab tree, boaboa tree, bottle tree, the
tree upside down, and monkey bread tree.

5. Adansonia perrieri: Baobab Perrier (in northern Madagascar.)

6. Adansonia rubrostipa: Baobab Fony (in Madagascar).

7.Adansonia suarezenzies: Suarez Baobab (Diego Suarez in the city, Madagascar).

8. Adansonia za: Za Baobab (in Madagascar).
